Curriculum
At Encino Charter, our curriculum is grounded in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and designed to promote independent learning, a growth mindset, real-world connections, and collaboration. Teachers use a combination of direct instruction, small group instruction, and gradual release strategies to help students develop new skills and take ownership of their learning.
Lessons are thoughtfully planned to include higher-order thinking, depth and complexity, differentiation, and support for all learners. Teachers analyze student data to guide instruction and regularly collaborate to plan and refine lessons, units, and assessments as part of an ongoing cycle of improvement.
Our integrated, inquiry-based curriculum for grades TK–5 is aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), California Content Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). We enrich learning through hands-on, personalized experiences that incorporate science, technology, engineering, the arts (visual and performing), and mathematics—fostering creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
In addition to academic rigor, we prioritize social-emotional development by creating inclusive classroom environments where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to express themselves, build positive relationships, and develop resilience. Through intentional instruction and classroom practices, we support the whole child and help students grow as confident, compassionate learners that are ready for the world.
