Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that helps young learners build a strong foundation for school success. It bridges the gap between preschool and traditional kindergarten by focusing on both academic and social-emotional development.
TK provides hands-on learning experiences that support early literacy, math skills, self-regulation, and social interaction. The program is based on the California Preschool Learning Foundations and is designed to meet the needs of younger kindergarten-aged children.
TK is a full-day program and follows the same daily schedule as traditional kindergarten. Enrollment is voluntary.
To be eligible for TK, children must turn 4 years old on or before September 1 of the school year.
