Benchmark Advance
Encino Charter teachers use the Benchmark Advance program to provide our students a rigorous reading and language arts experience. Aligned with the Science of Reading research, Benchmark Advance is a core language arts program that provides a cohesive structure for the development of literacy skills and content knowledge. Benchmark Advance covers print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, and fluency – all in a fun and meaningful way. Teachers use Benchmark Advance for whole group lessons and also with smaller groups to focus on specific goals. The topics of the texts are cross curricular and each unit of study has its own special booklet where students practice reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, vocabulary, grammar and writing skills.
